JE BENT DE MEER VOUDIGE TAAL — TU ES LA LANGUE PLURIELLE
A snapshot of abandonment.
The lettering of the sign is peeling off the wall.
Traces of glue remain, and so does the message.
Vorst /Forest is a pleasant multicultural borough in south-west Brussels. In spite of its bustling industrial activity it also has a number of parks and some districts that are more residential. 2007 saw the opening of the Wiels Contemporary Art Centre in the impressive modernist building of a former brewery. Urban renewal centred on this building is gradually getting going. Other empty buildings have been converted into trendy apartment complexes. Wielemans-Ceuppenslaan forms a psychological boundary between the more impoverished working-class Sint-Antonius district and the residential area around the Dudenpark.
‘Je bent de meervoudige taal - Tu es la langue plurielle' was festively inaugurated on the 6th of May 2014 on Avenue Van Volxem, Wielemans-Ceuppens district in Forest.
